a. 3 meetings have been held to discuss and plan the restructuring of Humboldt Jr. and Sr. high for next year. This team consists of staff, parents, community members, and district employees. The meetings have been impressive in regards to their substance and their attitude and foresight about the future. A proposed timeline has been created and provided to Denise Quinlan. The team is beginning to look at specifics for next year, including the following:

i. Developing a concrete environmental theme around the concepts of "social", "built", and "natural".

ii. What will the staff development be like?

iii. How will teachers be engaged and supported throughout the process?

iv. There needs to be a project manager for the two buildings. They will go back and forth between the school and the community members.

v. Year One: Jr. High science and social studies will be environmental classrooms. Math and English will be Disciplinary Literacy-based model classrooms. The teachers will be trained in these areas.

vi. There has been a lot of discussion about "theme".

vii. By Year 3: The focus and feel of the school will exude "environmental".

viii. 3 parts of environmental studies: Built world, social world, and natural world. Projects in 8th, 10th, and 12th grade focusing on these 3 parts.

ix. Five Year Goals: Interdisciplinary teams, job environment shadowing, labs beyond schools, cumulative projects, environmental focus in all classes, rigorous curriculum throughout all courses, activism resource for district.
