GRAD writing practice test and late start for seniors 10/14/2008 6:22 AMThere is a late start for seniors on Wednesday October 15, 2008 because 9-11th grade students will be testing.
- 9th grader will complete the GRAD writing practice test to prepare for this graduation exam
- 10th graders will complete the PLAN test. The PLAN test will help students build a solid foundation for future academic and career success and provides information needed to address school districts' high-priority issues. It is a comprehensive guidance resource that helps students measure their current academic development, explore career/training options, and make plans for the remaining years of high school and post-graduation years.
- 11th graders will complete the PSAT test. The Premilinary SAT test is a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT Reasoning Test™. It also gives you a chance to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) scholarship programs.
- 12th graders may go to the Career Resource Center to receive assistance with the college application process.
Classes will resume at 10:40 AM.
As adults who interact with children and young adults every day, we have tremendous influence on the dreams and plans of Humboldt Senior High School students. All of us can help students reach their potential; here are some tips and thoughts to help you make a difference:
- Expect that every child will go on to some kind of education after high school.
- Help students understand the path to the career they want.
- Explain to students and families that numerous options exist to help afford post-secondary education.
Once a student has a plan to attend a post-secondary school, the high school guidance office, and the post-secondary school can help identify financial aid programs.
