Site Council

 

                It is time again to hold an election for openings on the Site Council. Part of this process is nominating members. The term for commitment is two years. People may nominate themselves or be nominated for these positions; however, you should know if the person you wish to nominate is eligible and willing to serve on the Council. Twenty voting members make up the council, consisting of:

4 Teaching Staff, 2 Other EA’s/TA’s/Custodial/Cafeteria/Office Staff, 1 Senior High Principal (appointed), 1 Union Representative (appointed), 8 Parent Members, 2 Community Members, 2 Student Members.

 

Current members with terms continuing to 2008 are: Representing Teaching Staff: Joe Laconic, Lauren Rekonen, Alternate Marilyn Mauritz. Non Teaching Staff: Valerie Atkinson, Tim Hausker, Alternates Jackie Lindgren, Derby Campo. Community: Sam Buffington, Jodi Brennen (2009).

 

Positions ending 2007 are: Representing Teaching Staff: Bonnie Bellows, Dave Mergens. Parents: John Hines, Jennifer Purtell, Kandy Hedlund, Andy Mosca.

 

Positions open for these elections are:

          2 Teaching Staff Positions               1 Teaching Staff Alternate    

          8 Parent Positions                            4 Parent Alternates

                                                                                  1 Community Alternate

 

Duties of the Members

Members of the Site Council have duties and responsibilities, here are a few:

*Members should attend meetings, be on time, and know the rules or bylaws that govern the meetings.

                *Members need to prepare themselves for future leadership roles on the Council.

*Members should accept committee assignments and complete assignments on time.

*Members need to work together in a friendly way even though they may not agree with each other.

*Members must respect the fact that the majority rules and cheerfully carry out the membership’s wishes.

*Members must be impartial, not take sides, be fair, courteous to other members and wait in turn to speak.

*Members need to know what the rules or bylaws of the Council are, so that they can call attention to any violation that may come up at a meeting. Knowing the rules or bylaws will protect the rights of all members.

DEADLINE for nomination recommendations: Wednesday, June 6 2007

Please email your nomination recommendation or put them in Valerie Atkinson’s mailbox in the senior high mailroom. New members will be inducted at the last Council meeting of this year on Monday, June 11, 2007.
