Community Meeting Wednesday 12-12-07
Please come to a meeting on Wednesday December 12, 2007 from 5:00-7:00 PM to discuss the proposals for the Humboldt Junior and Senior High reform.

We be gathering your input on the plans for Humboldt.  The tenative plans are:

College and Career Technical School Proposal

A College and Career Technical School would incorporate business, industrial technology, pre-engineering, automotive, culinary and other career focused instruction throughout the curriculum. Humboldt would offer hands on career opportunities for all students.  There would be a strong math, science and career exploration focus throughout the curriculum.  Humboldt would offer job shadows and internships with businesses.  We also would provide students with a natural avenue for taking advanced classes at St. Paul College.

Environmental School Proposal

An Environmental School focuses on environmental studies centered around, but not limited to science and math.  Students will learn about the environment around them and how they impact it.  Humboldt would offer job shadowing and internships with businesses.  Humboldt would partner with community agencies to improve the environment on the West Side and the greater Saint Paul community.  Common areas of study would be pollution, energy and other environmental issues.

  • Both proposals will include having all classroom teachers model the best researched-based teaching methods.  This will be supported by having the District’s professional development team housed within Humboldt.  All staff will be trained and supported with using these teaching practices.
