Welcome back to Humboldt Senior High School! We've had a busy summer. We have installed new carpet and tile in the corridors and in the cafeteria, installed artificial turf, permanent bleachers, and a new press box and score board on our athletic field, permanent combination locks on the lockers and additional security cameras installed to the interior and exterior of the building to assist in maintaining a safe, welcoming and respectful environment.
We also had multiple staffing changes. Below are the changes with a description of the changes:
- Carmen Columbo, social studies teacher, replacing Nancy Welsh who retired
- Pam Lindberg, UTEP coordinator, replacing Diane Driscoll who retired
- Matt Osborne, social studies ( time junior high, time senior high), added to the building
- Susan Ackerman, math teacher, added to the building
- Eric Beeler, Science department EA, replacing Karen Mahoney who transferred to another school
- Eleanor Long, English teacher, added to the building
- Christina Marruffo, EBD teacher, replacing Mimi Bianco-Howard who transferred to another school
- James Clasen, EBD/PSD teacher, replacing Chris Voeller who resigned from SPPS
- Ashley Cannaday and Stacie Jones, curriculum coaches, added to the building
- Jodie Prohaska, Science teacher, added to the building
- Peggy Dorwick, SLD teacher, replacing Barbara McEvoy who transferred to another building
- Greg Moon, Work Experience Handicap teacher, replacing Skip Jobe who retired
- Donna Kelsey, guidance clerk, replacing Joanne Remackel who retired
- Tia Yang, 21st Century Grant educational assistant, added to the building
- Shawn Shanley, School Resource Police Officer, replacing Mong Lee who transferred to another building
- Sarah Barnett, teaching assistant, replacing Nona Silyka who resigned from SPPS
- Brian Hill, teacher assistant, replacing Tanna Cryer who transferred to another building
- Bill Sommers, consultant, added to the building
- Steve Aeilts, assistant principal, replacing himself as he was interim assistant principal
- Emily Peterson and Jordan Jones; Americorp personnel, added to the building
- Mike Sodomka, principal, replacing himself, as I was acting principal
As you can see, we've made several structural improvement to support our students and ensure a safe, welcoming and respectful environment. We also have hired excellent staff members who will continually work to support your child through their educational career at Humboldt and prepare them for life beyond our walls.
