Students who have completed the French 1 and French 2 courses are encouraged to continue into French 3.  (The district recommends three years of language study for graduation.)  Humboldt French students have a unique opportunity as they may complete French 1 and French 2 at Humboldt Junior High and continue directly into French 3 as 9th graders.  We offer a rigorous French 3 curriculum that attracts students in 9th , 10th, 11th and 12th grade.

French 3 begins with a light review of all basics and topics of French 1 and 2 before working with new vocabulary and expressions. Students in French 3 also begin reading authentic French short stories and viewing feature length films based on the topics they are studying. Generally our French 3 students work closely with our French Amity Intern.  which enhances the development of all of their language and cultural understandings.

At the end of each unit students prepare individual or small group projects to demonstrate what they have learned in the unit. At the end of French 3 students prepare indivudual French presentations and share these with the class through oral and/or powerpoint activities.
Students in all French classes focus on the national world language standards of the 5 C's: Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons and Communities. Students practice listening, speaking, reading and writing French in every featured topic in the course and students learn to use French in culturally authemtic settings that include learning about all French speaking countries in the world.
