New wheels... Again!!
2/14/2008 3:39 PM
Today Scrappy is getting a brand new set of  wheels put on!!! We needed to change the wheels because they rotated at different speeds, sending the robot in different directions. We also painted the hawk head.  Enrique, Cha, and Tom were cutting the wood for the crate that Scrappy will shipped in.  Less than a week to go!!!

Scrappy's Bumpers
2/11/2008 3:54 PM
We put the bumpers together today. First we hot glued the "foam noodles" to a board. Then we put the cloth over the noodles and the wood. We hot glued the cloth on the board and stapled for extra protection.Overall that's everything we did while Chris, our technical assistant, was testing our robot.

Scrappy is getting his makeover!!!
2/6/2008 3:59 PM
Scrappy got a brand new pair of wheels!!! Yay!!! Today we had to replace Scrappy's front wheels because it was very hard to steer with the other wheels.  Amanda and Mr. Rezny worked on bolting in the new front wheels. Jazmin, Anisia, and Rinetta worked on drilling the holes with the drill press in the bracket for the wheels. Also Chris and Tom came to help us in making Scrappy work mechanically and physically.  Once again Austin and Erin came to help us with the website.

Scrappy moves!
2/4/2008 3:59 PM
Today the team was informed that some of the volunteers stayed on Saturday to build the robot. It looks like Scrappy is almost ready to move but we still have a long way to go! Today’s goal is to get the robot to move. The team has to get some things done before that happens, however. Such as the pneumatic arm, the shell for the robot, and so much more but it's not going to be too long now. Go SCRAPPY go!!!!!!!!!!

Rear Wheels YAY!!!
1/31/2008 4:39 PM
Today, we worked on the website and added a playlist. Also today we added the rear wheels and were cutting pieces of metal to mount correctly to our frame. We also added more parts to our robot; unfortunately, we were unable to put on our wheels because our frame is crooked.

Wheels
1/28/2008 4:00 PM
Today was a slow day for us. Joey, Jazmin, Cha, Mr. Rezny, and Anisia put the front wheels on the frame today.  Amanda organized the screw cabinet to make it easier to find what we need.  Rinetta used the drill press to make holes for the screws.  Check out the image gallery to see the pictures Micayla took. Our biggest challenge today was communication and making sure that everyone knows what has to happen and what has to work. We had to keep resizing pieces and making sure that they fit. Everybody played a very important role today in helping make Scrappy come to life. Overall, we worked everything out and it ended up being a good day! ;)

Frames and Motors
1/23/2008 4:41 PM
YAY!!!!!! We almost got our frame built. One part of the team started on the motors for Scrappy, while the other part started on the robot frame!!!

Since the competition has measurement requirements, we had to measure the pieces to make sure that they would fit ; then if they didn't fit we had to saw them down so they would. We also had to screw and bolt the pieces together.

The motor group worked on building the housings for motors that will go on Scrappy's rear wheels.  There will then be a chain connecting the front and rear wheels.

T-Shirts and Manuals
1/17/2008 4:30 PM
Today was the day when we all went through and read the manuals for the competition. We also started to look at T-Shirt designs and prices (T-Shirts are expensive). We are also thinking about adding a play list to our website so that all our fans can know what we listen to while we work. Erin, Austin, and Brant also came to help us. At the end we all ate pizza!!! YUM!!!!!!!!!

Scrappy's Frame
1/16/2008 4:30 PM
Today we started working on the frame for Scrappy.  We decided to build Scrappy by keeping everything simple.  We named the robot Scrappy because we are all freshman and small and "Scrappy" means small and tough!!  GRRRR!! RAWR!!!!!!!  Click here to view pictures of our progress in the image gallery.  Also today Erin Mourning and Austin Peters from Ecolab came to help us design our webpage. YAY!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
